Boys and Men of Color are Here to Lead
- News
Every day, directly impacted leaders throughout California are working toward powerful solutions to the challenges our communities face. From Oakland to Fresno to the Inland Empire and Sacramento, they are working to expand the vote to young people, advocating for an end to police violence, and organizing for justice reform and health for all.
Today, we are proud to elevate their stories. #HeretoLeadCA is the first storytelling initiative of its kind to celebrate the leadership, power and voice of multigenerational, Asian American and Pacific Islander, African American, Latinx and Native American boys and men of color. Inclusive of transgender, gender nonconforming and LGTQIA+ stories, this effort aims to showcase how those closest to the challenges are best equipped to create real and lasting change.
Leading up to the momentous 2020 elections, this storytelling initiative launch is focused on the theme of civic engagement. The stories highlight civically active and directly impacted leaders who inspire action and deeper engagement, and disrupt the narrative that boys and men of color do not belong in our civic and political life.
Visit Heretoleadca.org to learn about these leaders and check for new stories to be rolled out every month. We also encourage you to share the campaign via social media using this digital toolkit.
We thank the members of California Funders for Boys and Men of Color for supporting this initiative and bringing it to fruition.
