Our collective thanks and well wishes on Dr.Ross’s retirement
Dear Community,
When we think about the legacy of Dr. Ross, it is hard for us to put into words just how much he means to our work and in this field, as a champion for the empowerment of boys and men of color for so many years. Dr. Ross helped build the California Funders for Boys and Men of Color (CFBMOC) network and continues to advise the strategy of our regional action committees. Celebrating our 10-year anniversary would not be possible without his leadership.
His passion for deep listening to communities and centering those closest to the challenges at hand is a lesson for all of us seeking to make a difference in our work. We are grateful for Dr. Ross’s belief in our network and pushing us to do more to collaborate, secure resources, advocate for stronger policies, and build power and opportunity to transform the lives of boys and men of color and their families.
As he retires from 24 years as President and CEO of The California Endowment, we wanted to share how profound Dr. Ross’ influence has been on not only the philanthropic field, but the next generation of social justice change makers in California. Please watch this powerful video where our community reflects on the magnitude of his impact.
Thank you, Dr. Ross, for your wisdom, mentorship, generosity and friendship. We will continue advancing this movement of funders and leaders across the state who are committed to a better future for the young men of color in our communities.
Sincerely,
The California Funders for Boys and Men of Color Community
