Introducing Daniel Guzmán – Member Spotlight

Daniel Guzmán has joined Sierra Health Foundation and The Center to lead the California Funders for Boys and Men of Color as a Program Officer where he will support our collective efforts to improve outcomes for boys and men of color across California. Daniel is a mission-driven leader with more than 10 years of experience designing, leading, and evaluating programs that advance education equity, youth development, and family engagement. He is committed to culturally responsive leadership that centers joy, authenticity, and community, and brings deep experience in creating transformative opportunities for historically underserved students.
At CFBMoC, Daniel will build on the network’s work supporting youth, families, and communities while strengthening partnerships, advancing programs, and using data to inform equitable solutions. He comes to our network with a rich background in community schools, leadership training, and youth development. Learn more about Daniel below.

What’s your favorite place to travel in California, and why?
San Francisco. I love how its rich history comes alive around every corner, how nature feels like part of the city itself, and how there’s always an amazing restaurant waiting to be discovered.

Daniel Guzmán’s Biography
Daniel Guzmán is a Program Officer at California Funders for Boys and Men of Color. He has held leadership roles in education equity and youth development across California, including Community Schools Coordinator at San Francisco Unified School District, Associate Director at Greenlining Institute, and Program Manager at Oakland Unified School District and The Unity Council.
Throughout his career, Daniel has led programs supporting first-generation students and historically underserved youth, rebuilt training programs in racial equity and leadership, coached cross-functional teams, facilitated student leadership and family engagement workshops, and overseen multi-site youth programs. He is fluent in Spanish and brings a deeply community-centered approach to his work.
Daniel earned a Master’s in Social Justice from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor’s in Sociology (Concentration in Criminology) from San José State University, where he later served on the Latino Alumni Network Board.
Originally from the East Bay, Daniel enjoys exploring San Francisco, trying new restaurants, and sharing meals like red pozole and green enchiladas with friends and family.
